Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Chapter 31
Huck can't seem to shake the king and the duke and soon discovers the king has sold Jim to a farmer . He must decide what to do about it. Should he write back to Miss Watson, Jim's owner, or try and steal him back again.
I'm very reluctant to try recording Huckleberry Finn because of the large number of dialects and assorted characters involved. But this event in Second Life, Story Fest 2012, cried out for a quality tale and what is of higher quality than the tale of Huck Finn's moral dilemma about stealing Jim back out of slavery. For many this is the crux of the novel. Actually, for me the journey is the thing and I take the author's word on the matter. "PERSONS attempting to find a motive in this narrative will be prosecuted; persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished; persons attempting to find a plot in it will be shot."
There are only three voices in this particular chapter, Huck, the Duke, and the boy he meets on the road, so I wasn't too concerned with dialect. You can read all about this event at their web site: http://storyfestsl2011.blogspot.com/
