Following Ian Strathcarron's cue to use the 1861 Rumsey Historical Map of Jerusalem, I ran a series of screen captures from http://rumsey.geogarage.com/maps/g0373034.html and created the mosaic with them using the Gimp. I then highlighted the most likely caravan routes from noted landmark to landmark.
